Accessories are like the icing on the cake. They instantly bring your outfit to the next level! But how many of us struggle with mixing and matching accessories? I certainly have! That’s why you can see in my Instagram feed that I’m mostly without any accessories. But lately, I’ve started to wear them again because of the 90s fashion influence:-) And I did wear a lot of accessories back then in the 90s! I have some simple principles to help ease my personal styling challenges and I hope they would be useful for you as well. For today, I’ll be sharing some tips on how to coordinate your metal accessories.
I found that pairing shiny and matte finishing metals work beautifully together (see image 1 above), particularly if they are of the same metal colour like gold and gold, silver and silver etc… It would be better to keep the shinier ones on a smaller or equal scale so as not to overpower the matted pieces. As you can see from the picture above, I wore a chunky shiny gold plated bracelet with equally chunky earrings in matte finishing. If you are mixing silver and gold pieces together, I would recommend the same type of finishing for both metals, like shiny gold and shiny silver (see image 2 above). Alternatively, you could also mix a darker metal with a lighter shade one for a contrasting look. Try out these style tips and let me know how it works for you personally.
Hope you are happy to style with Mel today!
